Everyone has losing trades, including every experienced trader you have ever heard of. What separates traders who last from those who quit is what they do in the minutes and hours after a loss. In this article we set out three steps: accept it, do not chase it, and learn from it.
If your stop-loss was set, this loss was planned and limited. You decided in advance how much you were willing to risk, gold went the other way, and the trade closed exactly where you said it would. That is not a failure. That is the system working. The loss hurts, but it is the small, controlled kind, and that is the whole point of using a stop-loss on every trade.
The most expensive mistake after a loss is the instant revenge trade: jumping straight back in, often with a bigger lot, to win the money back. That trade is driven by emotion rather than analysis, and it is how one small, planned loss turns into a large, unplanned one. Close the app if you need to. Wait for the next proper idea with its own entry, stop-loss and take-profit.
Note the trade in your journal: what the idea was, what you did, how you felt and what happened. Over time you will spot patterns, such as losses clustering around news or on days when you were tired. Then bring your questions to live training. Talking a loss through with people who have had plenty of their own turns a bad trade into a useful one.
Accept it as a planned loss if your stop-loss was set, avoid an immediate revenge trade, and write it in your journal to learn from.
