Freedom in trading is usually sold as trading from a beach. We think it also means not trading from the beach. In this article we explain why switching off on holiday is a perfectly good decision, how to do it cleanly and why coming back is as simple as picking up where you left off.
Trading from the beach is possible. Gold trades nearly around the clock on weekdays and a trade idea takes minutes to place from a phone. But not trading from the beach is also allowed, and often the better choice. Holidays are for resting, and decisions made half-distracted by the pool are not usually your best ones.
There is no rule that says you must take every idea. Missing a week of trades costs you nothing but the trades themselves, and the market will produce plenty more when you are back. Treat your time off as time off.
If you want a clean break, mute the group, close MT5 and enjoy the trip. If you have an open position, make sure the stop-loss and take-profit are set so it manages itself, or close it before you go. Either way, the market will still be there when you return.
Coming back is easy because there is nothing to undo. No subscription is being wasted while you are away and nothing needs cancelling. Unmute the group, open the app and pick up where you left off, with the same ideas, the same training and the same support waiting. Trading should respect your time off, and ours does.
Only if you want to. Distracted decisions are rarely good ones, so muting the group and switching off is a sensible option. The market will still be there when you return.
Set a stop-loss and take-profit so the trade manages itself, or close it before you go. With both levels set, it will close automatically at one or the other.
