Buy or sell? Many new traders assume you can only make money when gold goes up. In fact you can trade gold in both directions, and knowing what each button does is one of the first things to learn. This article explains buy, sell, and the one thing both need.
When you buy, you expect gold to go up. If the price rises after you enter, the trade moves into profit. If it falls, the trade moves into loss. Buying is sometimes called going long. It is the direction most people picture when they think of trading, because it matches the everyday idea of buying something and hoping it gains value.
When you sell, you expect gold to go down. If the price falls after you enter, the trade moves into profit. If it rises, the trade moves into loss. This is sometimes called going short. You do not need to own any gold first. Your platform lets you open a sell position just as easily as a buy, which is why gold can be traded in either direction.
Whichever direction you trade, every trade idea we send includes a stop-loss to limit the downside, along with an entry and a take-profit.
