Most beginners make the same four mistakes, usually in the same order, and each one costs more than the last. The good news is that all four are avoidable with a few habits. This article covers no stop-loss, trading too big, chasing losses and market-hopping, and how to skip every one.
Trading without a stop-loss is the first and worst mistake. One bad move can do real damage, because there is no limit on how far a losing trade can run. The fix is simple: decide the exit before the entry, every time. Every trade idea we send includes a stop-loss for this reason, and we would rather you missed a trade than took one without it.
Trading too big turns normal losses into painful ones. A loss that should have been a small, forgettable part of the week becomes the kind that makes you want to win it back immediately. Match lot size to your account, not to your confidence in the idea, and keep it the same on every trade.
Chasing losses follows directly from trading too big. Revenge trades, placed in frustration to recover money, make things worse almost every time because they skip the setup and the rules. A loss does not change the plan. Wait for the next proper setup, however long it takes to arrive.
Market-hopping is subtler. Jumping from gold to oil to a currency pair feels like diversification, but it stops you learning any of them properly. Master one market first. We focus on gold because it moves every day and trades almost around the clock, which is plenty for one trader to learn. Skip the mistakes with us.
Trading without a stop-loss. It leaves losses unlimited, and one bad move can do serious damage to an account.
Learning one market deeply teaches you how it moves. Jumping between markets spreads attention thin and slows learning.
