Nervous about using real money? That is completely normal, and the sensible answer is to practise first. In this article we explain what a demo account is, exactly which skills to rehearse on it before going live, and one honest note about the difference between demo trading and trading with money that matters to you.
A demo account is a practice account loaded with pretend money. You use the same platform, in our case MT5, and see the same live gold prices as everyone else, but nothing you do carries any financial risk. It is the trading equivalent of a flight simulator: every control works exactly as it does in the real thing, and mistakes cost nothing.
Use the demo to get comfortable with the buttons. Practise opening a trade on XAUUSD, setting a stop-loss and a take-profit, and choosing a lot size. Try placing one of our trade ideas exactly as it is written: entry, stop-loss and take-profit. Repeat it until the process feels routine, because when real money is involved you want your fingers to know what to do.
Demo feels different from real money. It is excellent for learning the mechanics, but real trading also tests your emotions: the urge to move a stop, the discomfort of watching a trade go red, the temptation to add size. Those feelings only appear when something is at stake, which is one more reason to start live with small lot sizes. If you would like help setting up a demo, ask the team and we will walk you through it.
