Take-profit explained: the exit you plan before the trade starts

Cover presenting take-profit as the exit you plan firstDefinition of a take-profit: a preset price that closes the trade automaticallyWhy take-profit matters and how every trade idea includes target levels

Take-profit is the button that closes your trade at the target, and it is the second thing every beginner should learn after the stop-loss. In this article we explain what a take-profit is, why setting the exit before the trade even starts protects you from your own emotions, and how it fits into every trade idea we send.

What a take-profit is

A take-profit is a price you set in advance. If gold reaches it, your trade closes automatically and the gain is locked in. You do not need to be watching the screen, and you do not need to make a decision in the moment. It works alongside the stop-loss: one closes the trade if price goes against you, the other closes it when price reaches your target.

Why it matters

Without a take-profit, it is tempting to hold on hoping for more. Gold reaches your target, you think it might run further, and then you watch price come all the way back and your gain disappear. Deciding the exit before you enter removes that trap. The decision is made calmly, with a clear head, rather than in the excitement of a trade that is moving in your favour.

A plan, not a guess

Every trade idea we send includes take-profit levels, so you know the target before you enter. Together with the entry and the stop-loss, this gives you a complete plan: where you get in, where you get out if wrong, and where you get out if right.
